Our Story

Built by Community,
for Everyone

G5 was born in Old Fort in 2019 from a simple idea: the trails of the Grandfather Ranger District are a tremendous asset - and with community support, they can drive healthier, more economically vibrant rural communities.

A working group recognized the lack of funding for trail maintenance and development in the district and set out to change it. Today, G5 is a program of non-profit Camp Grier and represents a powerful partnership between the USFS, local communities, and recreational trail user groups across five counties.
